Joe and Patty introduce their new CD “Nameless Places” last Saturday night at Cezanne’s, and what a hit it is. All of the music and lyrics are original compositions by Joe LoCascio. Unique to this presentation is that Joe has been able to capture both a very contemporary jazz style without losing the emotional connection to the lyrics as so often happens in jazz tone poems. Patty’s vocal style and obvious respect for her role as the vocal instrument of the ensemble, carefully blending with Woody Witt’s sax, created an atmosphere more akin to a concert hall than a jazz club. The rhythm section, David Craig and Tim Solook truly rose to the occasion and created the perfect scaffolding to support Joe’s music.
This is a landmark, “must have” album for any Houston jazz collector. I have already listened to it three times, and it is loaded with unrealized nuances and subtle emotional “hooks” that make me want to come back to it again. Drop Joe a line and buy a copy, It certainly is one of Houston’s best: joelocascio60@yahoo.com

Thursday, September 10th, 2009Carols albums can be found at Her web Site: Carol Morgan Music. Carol has a written excellent textbook she uses to teach Jazz Improvisation, which is loaded with insights bout how to interpret and understand jazz performances. It is a great read, and I believe an excellent resource for the novice jazz listener, be you a musician or new to the audience. You can order it from the links above.
